A Breakdown of How Epoxy is Applied
The process for applying epoxy on concrete is both a simple and complex one. While it can be a DIY project, it is recommended to hire professionals for this project because the project can be simple, but to a newbie, it can be challenging. This project comes in three stages. First, the surface must undergo preparation for the application which involved cleaning and assessing the area. Next, the application is applied. After that, it is time to proceed with the finishing and perfecting process to ensure your garage floor coverings achieve the best possible outcome.
As stated before, the first step to a new floor is cleaning and preparing it for application. This can be done by sweeping and followed by scrubbing it with a mixture of hot water and a diluted degreaser. The floor may also be pressure washed for the same process. This creates a solid, clean surface to apply the epoxy with and make sure it is perfectly clean so the application will sit on the surface properly. After that, it is time to mix one quart of floor prep solution with hot water. This will then be spread over the floor. A solution of this size will cover a 500 square foot area. If your area is larger, then more solution will be made to cover the area proper. If this process is not done correctly, then the surface will not support the epoxy properly nor will it adhere correctly. Luckily, professionals know hot to properly complete garage floor coverings in Wilmington, DE
After this process is finished well, part A and B will be mixed and the area will be measured to ensure that there is enough epoxy to spread evenly across the space. It is imperative that the epoxy is mixed thoroughly or else it will not dry the right way. Using professional grade tools, the epoxy will be spread around evenly to cover cracks, dents, stains, and more. Sometimes bubbles do occur, but there is no reason to be alarmed as this is normal. Concrete is porous so it can release air which causes bubbling, but these can be popped and will not affect the overall look of the epoxy in the end. A top coat will then most likely be applied. This will finish off the project and perfect it.
As you can see, this could be a very difficult process for someone who has never applied epoxy before. Many factors could affect what needs to be done to ensure the best possible outcome. This is why it is best to hire professionals so that there are no surprises. It will also save you money as it can very expensive to fix an epoxy mistake. Save yourself the time, money, and possible heartache by hiring professional epoxy technicians for your upcoming epoxy project.

Really Pleased! Our garage needed some major help – not only was it a mess but the floor was just ugly with all the stains and such. I will agree with the reviewer below – do not go with the cheap imitators! Floorguard not only has a great product, but their installers and service is well worth any extra cost, which is minimal anyway. Our neighbors have commented on how good our garage looks and we’ve recommended them to Floorguard without hesitation.

Covering our old, gray garage floor was a great aesthetic and functional improvement. This project requires 2 days: first day preparing the surface (major job requiring right equipment), putting down first coating and sprinkling the flakes. This requires about 4 hours. After this dries, they come back next day and apply the topcoat. They notified us when they would start the work and arrived as promised. They worked diligently, completed the work efficiently, left the work areas and our driveway clean. The owner Steve is a great guy to deal with.

It was a pleasure dealing with the company’s owner Steve Chaloult. When we called him to give us an estimate, he arranged to come within a few days. We have a very large two car garage. His estimate was a bit more than the first company we called but he seemed very well prepared in showing us samples and very knowledgeable about his product and we just liked him. For personal reasons , we had to delay installation for about a month and he could not be more accommodating. we finally we able to have it done this past week and it was worth the wait. The garage floor is just beautiful and I never would have thought I would say that about a garage floor! We also had the lower walls around the floor done and very glad we did. At one time we were thinking we could do this ourselves using a kit. WHAT were we thinking? This is a job for a professional and we are so glad we used Steve.
