Advantage of an Epoxy Floor for Your Garage
If you’re thinking about doing some home renovations, you might be wondering if you should incorporate an epoxy floor for your garage. This is something that is frequently seen in a number of home remodels, and it regularly appears on new construction projects. The question is, what are the advantages of having a garage cement floor with an epoxy sealant? In reality, there are several advantages, more than enough to offset any potential costs associated with it.
Epoxy Floors are Extremely Durable
One of the reasons you see epoxy floors show up on so many garages is because they’re durable enough to handle virtual anything you can throw at them. Garage floors take a lot of punishment, to say the least. Not only do you drive your vehicle on them multiple times a day, but most garage floors end up having all kinds of heavy items thrown on them, falling on top of them, and banging against them. All in all, any type of flooring in your garage is going to have to be durable enough to handle all of this or you’ll find yourself being forced to refinish it every time you turn around. Fortunately, epoxy floors are durable enough to take all this punishment and then some for years without the need for you to do anything aside from basic maintenance.
They’re Cost- Effective
You might think that epoxy flooring coatings are more expensive than other options, but that isn’t necessarily true. As a matter of fact, it can actually cost less to incorporate an epoxy floor into your garage than to use other types of flooring, especially when you consider the long-term maintenance costs. When it’s all said and done, you’re not going to be spending much more money to have the floor installed and you won’t be spending extra money in the coming years, trying to repair damage to the floor.
It Looks Good
Obviously, you don’t want to put forth the effort of laying down an epoxy floor, only to have it look terrible once it’s finished. One of the great things about this type of flooring is that it looks good, even when someone that’s never done it before completes the job. It’s virtually impossible to mess up this type of project, short of walking all over the epoxy before it has a chance to harden.
In the end, epoxy makes your garage floor look nicer and it protects it like nothing else. If you ever decide to sell your home, having an epoxy floor can even drive your selling price up considerably. There’s really no reason not to have an epoxy garage floor, but there are all kinds of advantages when it comes to having this type of flooring in your own home.

Really Pleased! Our garage needed some major help – not only was it a mess but the floor was just ugly with all the stains and such. I will agree with the reviewer below – do not go with the cheap imitators! Floorguard not only has a great product, but their installers and service is well worth any extra cost, which is minimal anyway. Our neighbors have commented on how good our garage looks and we’ve recommended them to Floorguard without hesitation.

Covering our old, gray garage floor was a great aesthetic and functional improvement. This project requires 2 days: first day preparing the surface (major job requiring right equipment), putting down first coating and sprinkling the flakes. This requires about 4 hours. After this dries, they come back next day and apply the topcoat. They notified us when they would start the work and arrived as promised. They worked diligently, completed the work efficiently, left the work areas and our driveway clean. The owner Steve is a great guy to deal with.

It was a pleasure dealing with the company’s owner Steve Chaloult. When we called him to give us an estimate, he arranged to come within a few days. We have a very large two car garage. His estimate was a bit more than the first company we called but he seemed very well prepared in showing us samples and very knowledgeable about his product and we just liked him. For personal reasons , we had to delay installation for about a month and he could not be more accommodating. we finally we able to have it done this past week and it was worth the wait. The garage floor is just beautiful and I never would have thought I would say that about a garage floor! We also had the lower walls around the floor done and very glad we did. At one time we were thinking we could do this ourselves using a kit. WHAT were we thinking? This is a job for a professional and we are so glad we used Steve.

The owner Steve Chaloult was easy to work with and he’s very good at what he does. I highly recommend Floorguard as your contractor if you’re wanting to have a garage floor finished with a durable epoxy like colored finish. Floorguard came when they said they would and cleaned up after they were finished. Floorguard also installs garage storage cabinets.
