Epoxy Coating to Refresh the Look of Your Garage
Garage floor resurfacing can completely transform the look of your garage. Resurfacing will allow you to use your garage as more than just a place to park your car or store your junk. With the right garage floor covering Wilmington DE and an experienced professional to do the installation, your garage could easily turn into the perfect man cave, game room, kid’s play area, a quiet retreat space or whatever functional space you would like it to be. Concrete floors simply do not provide for this kind of versatility which is why you should consider resurfacing your garage floor.
While there are many options for garage floor covering Wilmington DE, one of my favorites is Epoxy coating. Many people are known to confuse Epoxy coating with Epoxy paint when it should be noted that these are two completely different products. Epoxy coating is a mix of equal parts epoxide resin and polyamine hardener. Mixing these two chemicals results in a chemical reaction called exothermic curing. This chemical reaction produces epoxy, a strong and durable polymer which is applied as a coating to the floor. Epoxy coating is thick and hard. Epoxy paint, on the other hand, is a latex acrylic paint with a small amount of epoxy added to it, usually just one part. The addition of epoxy does not change the structure of the paint but only makes the paint more durable.
So what makes epoxy flooring Wilmington DE qualify as one of my favorite floorings? First of all, Epoxy comes in a variety of colors to suit everyone’s taste, allowing you to customize the floor in any way you’d like. If a playing around with color is not enough, acrylic flakes or quartz can be added as accents to the floor to achieve beautiful looks such as granite or terrazzo.
Not only is the flooring more appealing to the eye than concrete floors but due to its strong mechanical properties this durable floor covering comes along with other benefits besides just the aesthetics.
Most concrete garage floors have over time, acquired permanent stain marks from leaking oil or chemical spills, however, epoxy floors do not stain, and are also very resistant to surface abrasions, chips and thermal shock which concrete floors are not designed to endure for long periods of time.
Epoxy flooring is very easy to maintain. Any dust or dirt can easily be cleaned with a broom or mop. Chemical spills including oil, antifreeze, gasoline or brake fluid can sit on the epoxy flooring Wilmington DE for weeks without ever staining. Cleaning a chemical spill involves cloth or paper towels, a simple wipe down and the floor is as good as new.
The high durability of epoxy floors has given professional installers enough confidence to offer warranties of up to 15 years for multiple coat floors and lifetime warranties for 100% solid epoxy. With such great warranties, you get the peace of mind of knowing that your flooring is covered for a long time.

Really Pleased! Our garage needed some major help – not only was it a mess but the floor was just ugly with all the stains and such. I will agree with the reviewer below – do not go with the cheap imitators! Floorguard not only has a great product, but their installers and service is well worth any extra cost, which is minimal anyway. Our neighbors have commented on how good our garage looks and we’ve recommended them to Floorguard without hesitation.
The garage looks so good! A+ company on every level. Wish I had another garage to resurface!
My neighbor had a floor done by another company that was new to the industry, boy were they sorry. I went with the experts, Floorguard did an incredible job!!

Covering our old, gray garage floor was a great aesthetic and functional improvement. This project requires 2 days: first day preparing the surface (major job requiring right equipment), putting down first coating and sprinkling the flakes. This requires about 4 hours. After this dries, they come back next day and apply the topcoat. They notified us when they would start the work and arrived as promised. They worked diligently, completed the work efficiently, left the work areas and our driveway clean. The owner Steve is a great guy to deal with.

It was a pleasure dealing with the company’s owner Steve Chaloult. When we called him to give us an estimate, he arranged to come within a few days. We have a very large two car garage. His estimate was a bit more than the first company we called but he seemed very well prepared in showing us samples and very knowledgeable about his product and we just liked him. For personal reasons , we had to delay installation for about a month and he could not be more accommodating. we finally we able to have it done this past week and it was worth the wait. The garage floor is just beautiful and I never would have thought I would say that about a garage floor! We also had the lower walls around the floor done and very glad we did. At one time we were thinking we could do this ourselves using a kit. WHAT were we thinking? This is a job for a professional and we are so glad we used Steve.

The owner Steve Chaloult was easy to work with and he’s very good at what he does. I highly recommend Floorguard as your contractor if you’re wanting to have a garage floor finished with a durable epoxy like colored finish. Floorguard came when they said they would and cleaned up after they were finished. Floorguard also installs garage storage cabinets.
