Epoxy Concrete Resurfacing for Industrial Use
Epoxy is a term that refers to a chemical substance that is created as a result of mixing a curator (a hardener) and a resin. As a result of this combination, a rigid and a highly resistant material is created that has a strong bond as well as other properties including high resistance to regular tear and wear, and chemicals. Some people do not know the difference between a garage floor epoxy and a garage floor coating. The difference is easy to spot, if the epoxy is laid out with a thickness that is less than 2 millimeter, it is just a coating layer, it if it more than that, it is an epoxy floor.
Industrial plants, by their nature, need a robust flooring type that can withstand the industrial environment. For example, in heavy engineering industry plants, the floors can be moved on by heavy trucks and forklifts while in others, chemical materials can be spilt on the floor. Beside the need for robust flooring that can resist chemicals and wear and tear, the floors must have anti-slip characteristics in order to guarantee the safety of the employees as well as ensuring the compliance of the floor with different regulations. Lastly, some factories that produce beverages and food require high levels of hygiene so they have to regularly clean the floors and it is a fact that the epoxy materials that are used in concrete resurfacing are quite easy to clean. This way, they will not have to pay a lot of money to keep the facility clean.
There are many types of epoxy floors that are available for industries; each one has its own characteristics to meet the needs of different industries. For example, there are self-dispensing epoxy floors, graveled epoxy floors, mortar epoxy floors, anti-slip floors and anti-static floors. There is also a new epoxy floor type that is gaining a lot of traction in the market. This new type is called epoxy flaked floor. They are called “flaked” because they have colored flakes that are inlaid within the epoxy floor itself. This helps in giving the epoxy floor an aesthetic feel so it can be used for decorative purposes as well. This type is quite expensive when it is compared to other types.
If you are a factory owner or a house owner looking forward to using epoxy garage floor coverings, it is advised to seek the help of professionals no matter how attracting self-help guides may seem. This is because epoxy is relatively inexpensive, but it will certainly cost you. Therefore, if you implement it yourself and you do it wrong, you will have to remove it and re-apply it or fix it. Either way, you will waste a lot of money. This is why you should hire the services of a professional even if it is going to result in additional costs, but it will certainly help you save the money that you will have to spend repairing the damage.

Really Pleased! Our garage needed some major help – not only was it a mess but the floor was just ugly with all the stains and such. I will agree with the reviewer below – do not go with the cheap imitators! Floorguard not only has a great product, but their installers and service is well worth any extra cost, which is minimal anyway. Our neighbors have commented on how good our garage looks and we’ve recommended them to Floorguard without hesitation.

Covering our old, gray garage floor was a great aesthetic and functional improvement. This project requires 2 days: first day preparing the surface (major job requiring right equipment), putting down first coating and sprinkling the flakes. This requires about 4 hours. After this dries, they come back next day and apply the topcoat. They notified us when they would start the work and arrived as promised. They worked diligently, completed the work efficiently, left the work areas and our driveway clean. The owner Steve is a great guy to deal with.

It was a pleasure dealing with the company’s owner Steve Chaloult. When we called him to give us an estimate, he arranged to come within a few days. We have a very large two car garage. His estimate was a bit more than the first company we called but he seemed very well prepared in showing us samples and very knowledgeable about his product and we just liked him. For personal reasons , we had to delay installation for about a month and he could not be more accommodating. we finally we able to have it done this past week and it was worth the wait. The garage floor is just beautiful and I never would have thought I would say that about a garage floor! We also had the lower walls around the floor done and very glad we did. At one time we were thinking we could do this ourselves using a kit. WHAT were we thinking? This is a job for a professional and we are so glad we used Steve.

The owner Steve Chaloult was easy to work with and he’s very good at what he does. I highly recommend Floorguard as your contractor if you’re wanting to have a garage floor finished with a durable epoxy like colored finish. Floorguard came when they said they would and cleaned up after they were finished. Floorguard also installs garage storage cabinets.
