Garage Floor Coverings before Epoxies
Everybody likes to get home after a long day at work and find a freshly swept driveway, sparkling windows, and a neatly manicured window. However, you may not like the look of your garage floor once you open the garage door. It may be old, cracked and stained. These days, garages aren’t just storage rooms like they used to be.
Aside from parking our cars or boats in them, many of us utilize them for family events. Also, garages can be used as game rooms or playrooms for children. Regardless of the use of your garage, epoxy floor coatings will help you seal and protect the garage floor. This garage floor coating is a great investment that you’ll appreciate with time. Additionally, it’s easy to apply. As a matter of fact, the application of garage floor epoxy can be done in 2-3 days.
First, you’ll have to prepare the floor surface of your garage. This is the most time-consuming step. You’ll need to fill holes and cracks in your garage floor and ensure they dry completely. If your floor has a coat of paint or sealer on it already, that will determine the preparation of the floor. Epoxy floor coatings can go over paint. Nonetheless, the floor should be in good condition; meaning it should not be peeling-off or chipped-out.
Conversely, if there is a sealer on the floor, you’ll have to strip it off to allow the epoxy to stick properly. After you’re done stripping, you should thoroughly clean the floor surface to get rid of any grime or grease. There are various cleansers available in the market that you can choose. There are several equipment stores where you can rent machines to clean floors. This will save you some time. Therefore, you’ll be able to finish application of the garage floor epoxy on time.
Choose your time wisely. When applying epoxy garage floor coating, the weather should be neither cold nor hot. It should be mild. When you apply epoxy during a rainy season, it will take long to dry. If you wish to use garage floor coatings in West Chester, you should decide on the best type of epoxy coating. Is there any blemish you want to disguise on your garage floor? If so, go for a garage floor coating kit that comes with flakes. The chips are applied on epoxy coats to conceal blemishes.
If you would like to add something to the coating, you can buy a product that will offer anti-skid properties. Also, remember to spare enough time to complete your project. On some floor surfaces, you’ll need to apply several coats. Therefore, you’ll have to let one coat to dry before applying another one. Moreover, you’ll have to wait about 2-3 days before parking your vehicle or boat into the garage.
Persons looking to apply garage floor coatings in West Chester need to follow the right steps and use quality products. Many a time, it’s better to hire a professional to do your project for convenience and safety reasons.

Really Pleased! Our garage needed some major help – not only was it a mess but the floor was just ugly with all the stains and such. I will agree with the reviewer below – do not go with the cheap imitators! Floorguard not only has a great product, but their installers and service is well worth any extra cost, which is minimal anyway. Our neighbors have commented on how good our garage looks and we’ve recommended them to Floorguard without hesitation.

Covering our old, gray garage floor was a great aesthetic and functional improvement. This project requires 2 days: first day preparing the surface (major job requiring right equipment), putting down first coating and sprinkling the flakes. This requires about 4 hours. After this dries, they come back next day and apply the topcoat. They notified us when they would start the work and arrived as promised. They worked diligently, completed the work efficiently, left the work areas and our driveway clean. The owner Steve is a great guy to deal with.

It was a pleasure dealing with the company’s owner Steve Chaloult. When we called him to give us an estimate, he arranged to come within a few days. We have a very large two car garage. His estimate was a bit more than the first company we called but he seemed very well prepared in showing us samples and very knowledgeable about his product and we just liked him. For personal reasons , we had to delay installation for about a month and he could not be more accommodating. we finally we able to have it done this past week and it was worth the wait. The garage floor is just beautiful and I never would have thought I would say that about a garage floor! We also had the lower walls around the floor done and very glad we did. At one time we were thinking we could do this ourselves using a kit. WHAT were we thinking? This is a job for a professional and we are so glad we used Steve.

The owner Steve Chaloult was easy to work with and he’s very good at what he does. I highly recommend Floorguard as your contractor if you’re wanting to have a garage floor finished with a durable epoxy like colored finish. Floorguard came when they said they would and cleaned up after they were finished. Floorguard also installs garage storage cabinets.
