How to Smooth a Rough Concrete Slab

Working with a rough concrete slab is not the best idea. Epoxy flooring is beautiful but must be applied to a leveled surface in order to remain in good shape. Follow these simple steps to smooth a rough concrete slab in order to prepare it for a beautiful epoxy finish.

To smooth a rough concrete slab, you will need to brush off all debris with a broom, then wash away the grime with a mop using neutral cleaner and warm water.

Next, you will want to identify the areas with cracks or misshapen areas.

Remove any unleveled areas with a chisel or hammer and brush away excess shards and pieces.

At this point, you will need to apply epoxy to the sides of the damaged areas. This epoxy will serve as a bonding agent between the concrete and the patching material.

Next, you will fill the cracks with epoxy resin until it is level with the rest of the floor. Once dry, use a concrete grinder to ensure your concrete is completely level, then brush away excess concrete dust with a broom.
