Ideas for Tranforming the Garage Into a Mancave
Men all over the U.S. are trying to find some extra space in their homes to create a ‘man cave’. This space dedicated to things like sports, television and video games completes a home and gives the man of the house their own place to hang out. This space typically doesn’t get worked into the central floor plan of a home. A man cave is created in a garage or basement in most cases. Investing in this space can be beneficial for a marriage and family life. It’s a place to unwind and de-stress after a long day. If you are in the planning stages of creating a man cave let’s take a look at some of the essentials that you need to work into the design.
Bar Area
Depending on how much space you have to work with and what your budget is, a bar is a great place where you can store some of your favorite drinks and snack. You can include a small fridge to keep everything chilled and think about working your favorite details into the bar. You can have a customized logo printed on the bar or feature some memorabilia for your favorite sports teams.
Comfortable Seating
One of the most important parts of a man cave is comfortable seating. A lot of men like a big, saggy and old couch that is broken in and super comfy. Recliners are another great investment for your man cave. You can find them at just about every furniture store and they are really comfortable. If you have some extra money to work with there are some high end options that including massaging capabilities, cup holders and a seat warmer.
Accessories
There are some electronics and accessories that you are going to want to decorate your man cave with. A television and game console are the most popular options. You can also work in a pool table if you have the space and a dart board for some friendly competitions. Don’t forget about little details that will really personalize your space. You can pick out coasters that reflect your favorite things. Some special etched glasses for your bar might really complete that space. Hanging pictures and other memorabilia on the walls with make this your space and yours alone.
Flooring
Chances are you need to invest in some sort of flooring depending on where your man cave is located. If you are building in your garage or basement then you probably don’t want a plain concrete slab as your flooring option. Hiring a professional garage flooring expert to turn your plain slab into something customized and unique can really complete the entire room. Epoxy flooring in Wilmington, DE is very popular right now.
Lighting
Most garages and basements have minimal lighting in them. That one little light bulb with pull string just isn’t going to cut it. Hire a professional electrician to add enough lighting that you will be able to see everything that is going on in your man cave. You can work in some nice recessed lights to your ceiling and if you attach them to a dimmer then you can have the perfect level of lighting when you are watching movies or sporting events.
If you are looking to create a man cave of your very own think about all of the different options that you have available to you. These are just some of the essentials that can get you started. You don’t have to create a man cave that is just like the one that your friend has. Create a space that is going to be perfect for you so you can relax.

Really Pleased! Our garage needed some major help – not only was it a mess but the floor was just ugly with all the stains and such. I will agree with the reviewer below – do not go with the cheap imitators! Floorguard not only has a great product, but their installers and service is well worth any extra cost, which is minimal anyway. Our neighbors have commented on how good our garage looks and we’ve recommended them to Floorguard without hesitation.

Covering our old, gray garage floor was a great aesthetic and functional improvement. This project requires 2 days: first day preparing the surface (major job requiring right equipment), putting down first coating and sprinkling the flakes. This requires about 4 hours. After this dries, they come back next day and apply the topcoat. They notified us when they would start the work and arrived as promised. They worked diligently, completed the work efficiently, left the work areas and our driveway clean. The owner Steve is a great guy to deal with.

It was a pleasure dealing with the company’s owner Steve Chaloult. When we called him to give us an estimate, he arranged to come within a few days. We have a very large two car garage. His estimate was a bit more than the first company we called but he seemed very well prepared in showing us samples and very knowledgeable about his product and we just liked him. For personal reasons , we had to delay installation for about a month and he could not be more accommodating. we finally we able to have it done this past week and it was worth the wait. The garage floor is just beautiful and I never would have thought I would say that about a garage floor! We also had the lower walls around the floor done and very glad we did. At one time we were thinking we could do this ourselves using a kit. WHAT were we thinking? This is a job for a professional and we are so glad we used Steve.

The owner Steve Chaloult was easy to work with and he’s very good at what he does. I highly recommend Floorguard as your contractor if you’re wanting to have a garage floor finished with a durable epoxy like colored finish. Floorguard came when they said they would and cleaned up after they were finished. Floorguard also installs garage storage cabinets.
