No Doubt About It: Epoxy Garage Floor Coatings Are The Way To Go
Imagine if you remodeled a house from top to bottom. You painted, fixed what needed to be fixed, put in new appliances and fixtures but then at the end of it you left the old, patchy flooring. No matter how good you made the rest of the house look, that floor will be the first thing to draw the eye and it just won’t look completed without that final touch.
Your garage is the same way. You can have your tools neatly organized complete with shelving and hanging racks and have a nice space for outdoor activity items but without fixing up that plain, old concrete floor with its imperfections and oil stains, your garage just isn’t completely finished.
This is why it is important to think about garage floor coatings. A lot of websites offer tricks to do it yourself but really, this is a job best left to the professionals as this is not something purely aesthetic but functional as well. If you get an epoxy garage floor coating put down you’ll have a gleaming surface that is easy to clean (think about the ease of cleaning off the counters in your kitchen) as well as something that help you handle extreme weather conditions like snow or rain.
There are a myriad of options when it comes to garage floor coatings. Of course, some people opt to just paint it. That’s all well and good but it will only serve to temporarily ease the eyesore. First, if you get an epoxy garage floor coating the first impact will be better. It’s about the difference of a professional paint job on your car and taking a can of spray paint to it. Second, you’re getting a floor that can last through all that goes on in a garage.
The garage is the part of the house that sees all the dirty work and heavy lifting. Tools drop, wood gets cut down for projects, big science fair projects get built, and items are stored. Nothing is worse than having to tiptoe around in an area that is supposed to be the toughest part of your house lest you damage the paint.
Epoxy flooring won’t do that. It will hold up to possible chips and dings and will make cleaning as easy as sweeping off the floor. All that dust that normally accumulates in a garage will be severely cut down as the epoxy acts as a sealant against the concrete powder that is kicked up in day to day living.
Some types of epoxy can get a bit slippery when wet but there are special types which have slip resistant aggregate in them so you don’t have to worry about this. A professional will be able to evaluate the best epoxy for your needs dependent upon the climate in which you live.

Really Pleased! Our garage needed some major help – not only was it a mess but the floor was just ugly with all the stains and such. I will agree with the reviewer below – do not go with the cheap imitators! Floorguard not only has a great product, but their installers and service is well worth any extra cost, which is minimal anyway. Our neighbors have commented on how good our garage looks and we’ve recommended them to Floorguard without hesitation.

Covering our old, gray garage floor was a great aesthetic and functional improvement. This project requires 2 days: first day preparing the surface (major job requiring right equipment), putting down first coating and sprinkling the flakes. This requires about 4 hours. After this dries, they come back next day and apply the topcoat. They notified us when they would start the work and arrived as promised. They worked diligently, completed the work efficiently, left the work areas and our driveway clean. The owner Steve is a great guy to deal with.

It was a pleasure dealing with the company’s owner Steve Chaloult. When we called him to give us an estimate, he arranged to come within a few days. We have a very large two car garage. His estimate was a bit more than the first company we called but he seemed very well prepared in showing us samples and very knowledgeable about his product and we just liked him. For personal reasons , we had to delay installation for about a month and he could not be more accommodating. we finally we able to have it done this past week and it was worth the wait. The garage floor is just beautiful and I never would have thought I would say that about a garage floor! We also had the lower walls around the floor done and very glad we did. At one time we were thinking we could do this ourselves using a kit. WHAT were we thinking? This is a job for a professional and we are so glad we used Steve.

The owner Steve Chaloult was easy to work with and he’s very good at what he does. I highly recommend Floorguard as your contractor if you’re wanting to have a garage floor finished with a durable epoxy like colored finish. Floorguard came when they said they would and cleaned up after they were finished. Floorguard also installs garage storage cabinets.
