The Reasons to Use Epoxy Floor Coating Naperville in Your Garage
The garage is a very important part of anyone’s house, this is why the flooring of the garage has to be chosen carefully and after a lot of research. For homeowners who always suffer from the looks of their garage as a result of the tire marks on the flooring and the oil greasy stains, choosing to apply an epoxy coating layer to the garage flooring is the right way to go but it is not the only way to go. There are numerous Chicago garage Naperville flooring companies that would suggest another course of action. Instead of just applying an epoxy coating layer, they will suggest installing a brand new epoxy flooring system.
There are many things that any homeowner should consider before making that decision. The main factor is the frequent use of the garage flooring. For example, if you own one car, then the activities that will take place in the garage will only include backing out and driving in. Homeowners will also have to consider other activities that can take place and ask themselves if household members often contribute to the foot traffic that goes out or in the garage, are the kids going to have their own cars and so on.
Installing a new flooring system for the garage can be quite expensive but on the other hand, it is cost effective. This is because the flooring of the garage is not as distressed as the floorings of garages in plane hangars, automobile garages or industrial sites. This means that such flooring system can last for over twenty years. This will save homeowners a lot of money and expenses that they will pay for repairs and maintenance in the long term.
Different Types of Epoxy Flooring
After deciding to go with epoxy flooring, you have to know that there are 3 different types:
– 100% Solids Epoxy Floor Coating:
This is considered as one of the most durable types of epoxy materials that can be used in flooring systems. This is why it is the type that is recommended by most flooring companies. This type can survive for almost twenty years and it can withstand human traffic and car tire friction. The 100% solids epoxy coating substance can create a layer that is 2mm thick. On the other hand, it is very sensitive to heat, this is why the installers will have to know if there is any vapor-migration in the floor’s inner concrete before they can use this type of epoxy coating.
– Water Based Epoxy Floor Coating:
This type is considered as a sealer and a primer as it does not have the same durability of the solid epoxy coating.
– Solvent Based Epoxy Floor Coating:
Like the name suggests, this type of epoxy uses solvents when it is being used as a primer or a sealer, just like the water based epoxy type. This type also consists of a specific percentage of solids that vary between 30 and 70 percent.

Really Pleased! Our garage needed some major help – not only was it a mess but the floor was just ugly with all the stains and such. I will agree with the reviewer below – do not go with the cheap imitators! Floorguard not only has a great product, but their installers and service is well worth any extra cost, which is minimal anyway. Our neighbors have commented on how good our garage looks and we’ve recommended them to Floorguard without hesitation.

Covering our old, gray garage floor was a great aesthetic and functional improvement. This project requires 2 days: first day preparing the surface (major job requiring right equipment), putting down first coating and sprinkling the flakes. This requires about 4 hours. After this dries, they come back next day and apply the topcoat. They notified us when they would start the work and arrived as promised. They worked diligently, completed the work efficiently, left the work areas and our driveway clean. The owner Steve is a great guy to deal with.

It was a pleasure dealing with the company’s owner Steve Chaloult. When we called him to give us an estimate, he arranged to come within a few days. We have a very large two car garage. His estimate was a bit more than the first company we called but he seemed very well prepared in showing us samples and very knowledgeable about his product and we just liked him. For personal reasons , we had to delay installation for about a month and he could not be more accommodating. we finally we able to have it done this past week and it was worth the wait. The garage floor is just beautiful and I never would have thought I would say that about a garage floor! We also had the lower walls around the floor done and very glad we did. At one time we were thinking we could do this ourselves using a kit. WHAT were we thinking? This is a job for a professional and we are so glad we used Steve.

The owner Steve Chaloult was easy to work with and he’s very good at what he does. I highly recommend Floorguard as your contractor if you’re wanting to have a garage floor finished with a durable epoxy like colored finish. Floorguard came when they said they would and cleaned up after they were finished. Floorguard also installs garage storage cabinets.
