What to Expect When You Go With Epoxy Flooring
If you’ve been looking at your garage with a bit of disappointment, you’re not alone. Many homeowners are now interested in turning the overlooked area of the house into a bona fide living or storage space. Surprisingly, transforming a lackluster garage into a beautiful addition starts with the floor. With a professional application of epoxy coating, your floor in the garage will be ready for clean storage of any items, a new fitness area, or even the new spot to hang out. This durable coating is very cost-effective compared to other home updates, and the process is quite simple for technicians to complete.
Before application of garage floor coating can begin, the floor must first be evaluated for its flaws. The easy remedies include cleaning dirt off the surface and scrubbing down the floor. You might also have deeper stains removed as much as possible before the coating is applied. These steps ensure the best adhesion of the product to the floor. For the same reasons, dents and cracks within the concrete floor will be filled our smoothed out so that the coating finds an even surface. This prep work is a necessary step that will give you the greatest results from your new garage floor.
Nothing bonds with epoxy better than a dry, firm, and untreated floor of the garage. If you want an optimal application, you should have your garage floor tested for the presence of water or any dampness whatsoever. You might have new concrete poured in addition to coating the floor with epoxy. If this is the case, the new floor should be given at least one month to set before you purchase garage flooring. Many individuals try paint on the garage floor and are ultimately dissatisfied with the outcome. If you fall into this category, make sure that any old paint is removed from the floor.
During the actual process of the specialist applying epoxy, the coating is put on the floor in layers, with time in between to let each layer set in. The results once the coating is done will look fantastic, but you should wait at least 16 hours before any foot traffic comes in contact with the new flooring. In terms of your car, you can start parking in the garage again after a week. The coating completely cures in a few weeks, and then you can fully enjoy your updated garage floor and all the benefits it has to offer.
The entire process is well worth any wait you’ll have. Garage floors with epoxy coating are instantly more resistant to dirt, grime, and debris. They also repel grease, chemicals, and oil that may come out of your car or lawn equipment. Your floor will last much longer once it has been treated with an epoxy coating, and you’ll be adding value to your home. If you plan on selling, potential buyers will see the beautiful garage floor with epoxy coating as an added bonus. Epoxy coating is truly one of the best investments you can make to enhance your home.

Really Pleased! Our garage needed some major help – not only was it a mess but the floor was just ugly with all the stains and such. I will agree with the reviewer below – do not go with the cheap imitators! Floorguard not only has a great product, but their installers and service is well worth any extra cost, which is minimal anyway. Our neighbors have commented on how good our garage looks and we’ve recommended them to Floorguard without hesitation.

Covering our old, gray garage floor was a great aesthetic and functional improvement. This project requires 2 days: first day preparing the surface (major job requiring right equipment), putting down first coating and sprinkling the flakes. This requires about 4 hours. After this dries, they come back next day and apply the topcoat. They notified us when they would start the work and arrived as promised. They worked diligently, completed the work efficiently, left the work areas and our driveway clean. The owner Steve is a great guy to deal with.

It was a pleasure dealing with the company’s owner Steve Chaloult. When we called him to give us an estimate, he arranged to come within a few days. We have a very large two car garage. His estimate was a bit more than the first company we called but he seemed very well prepared in showing us samples and very knowledgeable about his product and we just liked him. For personal reasons , we had to delay installation for about a month and he could not be more accommodating. we finally we able to have it done this past week and it was worth the wait. The garage floor is just beautiful and I never would have thought I would say that about a garage floor! We also had the lower walls around the floor done and very glad we did. At one time we were thinking we could do this ourselves using a kit. WHAT were we thinking? This is a job for a professional and we are so glad we used Steve.

The owner Steve Chaloult was easy to work with and he’s very good at what he does. I highly recommend Floorguard as your contractor if you’re wanting to have a garage floor finished with a durable epoxy like colored finish. Floorguard came when they said they would and cleaned up after they were finished. Floorguard also installs garage storage cabinets.
