What You Need To Know About Epoxy Flooring Naperville
Epoxy flooring is, without a doubt, one of the best floor coating materials that can be used. It is durable, it is resistant to many things including corrosive materials and water, and lastly, it is one of the cheapest solutions. This is why many homeowners might consider using this kind of flooring material in their house, especially the garage. The garage is one of the areas in the house that needs a heavy duty flooring material. This is because we store our gardening tools in the garage as well as other tools. Most of these tools are heavy so we drag them across the garage, therefore, the flooring can get damaged.
The decision to use epoxy floor coating does not stop there, as you will also have to choose the kind of epoxy floor coating. There are three main types of epoxy floor coating. These three types are all Solids (100%) epoxy coating, water-based epoxy coating and solvent based epoxy coating. You have to understand the different types and what are their characteristics before making a decision. Many homeowners make the mistake of going with the cheapest solution regardless of its features and characteristics.
The first type is the solvent based epoxy flooring. This epoxy coating type consists of solvents and it can be used as a primer and a sealer. This type consists of solids with a percentage that varies between thirty and seventy percent. This is why it is only able to achieve a thin layer. This type of epoxy flooring is not popular even when it is used as a primer; this is due to its nature as a solvent based material because it does not comply with the VOC regulations.
The second type is the all-solid epoxy coating. This is the most commonly used one because of its durability. This is why it is the type that is recommended and used by epoxy floor coating Palatine professionals. This type can live for more than twenty years even if it is subjected to heavy traffic. It can also withstand abuse as it can withstand chemicals and hot tire marks. Professionals usually use hardeners when installing this epoxy flooring type in order to make the coating dry up while it is in its solid state so it bonds with the concrete flooring underneath it.
The third and last type is the water-based coating. This one is used as a primer and a sealer rather than a floor coating material. This is because it will spread thinly and it is not as durable or as resistant as the 100% solid epoxy coating. On the other hand, this is the type that is most likely to be recommended by DIY (Do It Yourself) guides since it is the more user-friendly option.
It is clear that the all-solids epoxy coating is the number one epoxy flooring Naperville choice since it is more durable and resistant. On the other hand, some people prefer the water based coating because of its cheaper price and user friendliness.

Really Pleased! Our garage needed some major help – not only was it a mess but the floor was just ugly with all the stains and such. I will agree with the reviewer below – do not go with the cheap imitators! Floorguard not only has a great product, but their installers and service is well worth any extra cost, which is minimal anyway. Our neighbors have commented on how good our garage looks and we’ve recommended them to Floorguard without hesitation.
The garage looks so good! A+ company on every level. Wish I had another garage to resurface!
My neighbor had a floor done by another company that was new to the industry, boy were they sorry. I went with the experts, Floorguard did an incredible job!!

Covering our old, gray garage floor was a great aesthetic and functional improvement. This project requires 2 days: first day preparing the surface (major job requiring right equipment), putting down first coating and sprinkling the flakes. This requires about 4 hours. After this dries, they come back next day and apply the topcoat. They notified us when they would start the work and arrived as promised. They worked diligently, completed the work efficiently, left the work areas and our driveway clean. The owner Steve is a great guy to deal with.

It was a pleasure dealing with the company’s owner Steve Chaloult. When we called him to give us an estimate, he arranged to come within a few days. We have a very large two car garage. His estimate was a bit more than the first company we called but he seemed very well prepared in showing us samples and very knowledgeable about his product and we just liked him. For personal reasons , we had to delay installation for about a month and he could not be more accommodating. we finally we able to have it done this past week and it was worth the wait. The garage floor is just beautiful and I never would have thought I would say that about a garage floor! We also had the lower walls around the floor done and very glad we did. At one time we were thinking we could do this ourselves using a kit. WHAT were we thinking? This is a job for a professional and we are so glad we used Steve.

The owner Steve Chaloult was easy to work with and he’s very good at what he does. I highly recommend Floorguard as your contractor if you’re wanting to have a garage floor finished with a durable epoxy like colored finish. Floorguard came when they said they would and cleaned up after they were finished. Floorguard also installs garage storage cabinets.
