What You Need To Know About Garage Floor Epoxy Coating
Home renovation and repair in the real estate industry is a very lucrative business to go into, if you know what styles are trending, how to get the most value for the least amount of money, and can do a professional job. A few of the most innovative home renovation trends are the use of barn doors in master bedrooms, metal rails for the staircase, French doors, and applying epoxy coating to garage floors. For that reason, this article discusses everything you need to know about epoxy garage flooring and some of the reasons why it may be a good option for you.
There’s not much you can do to a garage to make it exciting, other than painting the walls, and adding an epoxy coating to the floor. The term epoxy is defined as an adhesive which can be paint, plastic, or some other material. The best epoxy method to apply to the garage is the type that makes it look as if the floor was marble or some type of stone. It is stunning to look at when you walk in or drive your car inside, but once you touch it, it has an amazing plastic-like feel to it.
The reason why epoxy is a much better solution than simply applying paint over the garage floor is because once the epoxy is coated over the cement, they make a bond that is near permanent and very hard to peel off or remove. Paint on the other hand is easily peeled and must be re-coated often. Yes, you can choose different colors of paint to add a certain “pop” to the floor, but you can do the same with epoxy flooring. There are browns, whites, marble, clear, and many more to choose from so it’s only a matter of your taste and imagination.
Another benefit of epoxy coating is the time that it takes. If you’re looking to do it yourself, it is important that you seek a professional team to come and do it for you. Though it is a very simple application process, it is also very easy to mess up and can cost you twice as much to fix. Finally, epoxy is easy to clean, and due to it being no-porous, will allow you to hose it down for a shiny and simple cleaning process.
In conclusion, coating your garage floor with an epoxy solution is an excellent choice. Epoxy is a plastic-like substance that will create a water-proof surface in your garage floor that can look like marble, stone, or a simple clear solution. Epoxy is great due to its almost permanent adhesion to the cement floor below it, it needs little to no maintenance as opposed to a paint coat, and it will stun your visitors when they walk in. If you’re planning on getting an epoxy garage floor coating, seek a team of professionals for best results.

Really Pleased! Our garage needed some major help – not only was it a mess but the floor was just ugly with all the stains and such. I will agree with the reviewer below – do not go with the cheap imitators! Floorguard not only has a great product, but their installers and service is well worth any extra cost, which is minimal anyway. Our neighbors have commented on how good our garage looks and we’ve recommended them to Floorguard without hesitation.

Covering our old, gray garage floor was a great aesthetic and functional improvement. This project requires 2 days: first day preparing the surface (major job requiring right equipment), putting down first coating and sprinkling the flakes. This requires about 4 hours. After this dries, they come back next day and apply the topcoat. They notified us when they would start the work and arrived as promised. They worked diligently, completed the work efficiently, left the work areas and our driveway clean. The owner Steve is a great guy to deal with.

It was a pleasure dealing with the company’s owner Steve Chaloult. When we called him to give us an estimate, he arranged to come within a few days. We have a very large two car garage. His estimate was a bit more than the first company we called but he seemed very well prepared in showing us samples and very knowledgeable about his product and we just liked him. For personal reasons , we had to delay installation for about a month and he could not be more accommodating. we finally we able to have it done this past week and it was worth the wait. The garage floor is just beautiful and I never would have thought I would say that about a garage floor! We also had the lower walls around the floor done and very glad we did. At one time we were thinking we could do this ourselves using a kit. WHAT were we thinking? This is a job for a professional and we are so glad we used Steve.

The owner Steve Chaloult was easy to work with and he’s very good at what he does. I highly recommend Floorguard as your contractor if you’re wanting to have a garage floor finished with a durable epoxy like colored finish. Floorguard came when they said they would and cleaned up after they were finished. Floorguard also installs garage storage cabinets.
